Day 1

Transfer Airport Zvartnots-Yerevan

Welcome at the airport and transfer to the hotel in Yerevan. After the check-in to the hotel you will go to the restaurant ”Wine Republic” for a lunch, followed by a city tour in Yerevan. The city tour program includes visit statue to the hero of the national epic poem Sasuntsi David, Cathedral to Gregory the Illuminator, and one of the most favorite places for the Yerevan visitors – architectural complex Cascade, where you will visit the Cafesjian center for the modern art. A promenade around the Republic Square. A short rest in the hotel and departure for the dinner in the restaurant “Yerevan Tavern” with folk music and dances, accompanied by serving homemade wine. We will take a walk to the Republic Square, where we can admire the show «Singing fountains».

Day 2

Cognac day and a tour to Garni-Geghard

A breakfast in the hotel and departure for the tour to Garni and Geghard. The first stop is near the monument called Charents' Arch, where in a good weather you can admire the magnificent Mount Ararat. Garni, a Pagan Temple referred to as the well known symbol of pre-Christian Armenia that was converted into a royal summer house. After exploring the grand structure you will then visit the UNESCO listed Geghard Monastery Complex. During our lunch in a house of a local village dweller we will try lavash made in “tondir”, vegetables and meat- all accompanied by homemade wine or apricot vodka. Then we will visit the Matenadara-museum scientific research institute of old manuscripts. After that we will visit one of the most popular places in Yerevan “Ararat” brendy factory, where, after the excursions in the museum of the factory, which is actually the museum of the history of Armenian cognac, we will taste two types of brendy of three and ten years. A free evening in Yerevan.

Day 3

Vayots Dzor region

Check-out from the hotel and trip to the South winemaking region of Armenia - Vayots Dzor. The first stop is the monastery of Khor Virap, from where a fascinating view of the biblical Mountain Ararat is in front of you. Here we will remember the legend of Noy, who planted a grape vine and made wine first thing after completing his mission of saving every living creature. The next stop is near the «Bird's cave», where the oldest shoe on the Earth and a 6000-year old winery have been found by archeologists. And though the diggings still go on, we will see ourselves what is happening inside the mystic cave. A visit to the monastery complex “Noravank”, built in the XIII-XIV centuries and hid in the surroundings of mystic red rocks. It is right here, in the wine-making region of Areni, where in many home wineries and wine plants they produce the famous red wine Areni from the native sort of wine of the same name. We will have a tour and wine tasting in the factory “Old Areni” and will have our lunch, where together with all the tasty dishes, we will also be offered the wine. Night stay in the village Hermon in a comfortable “LucyTour Hotel Resort”.

Day 4

Lake Sevan and Dilijan

We will depart from Hermon after the breakfast. A planned stop on the way in a place called “Selim-Vardenyats Caravansarai”, which served as a major trading point in the Silk Road time. A visit to “Naratus” the largest khachkar (cross stone) valley in the territory of modern Armenia. A lunch in the coastal restaurant «Tsovatsots», where we will taste dishes made with the local fish “Sig” and local special dishes served with wine. We will visit monastery Sevanavank on the North-East of the lake. A dinner and rest in the Art Guest House’in the resort Dilijan.

Day 5

Northern wine-making regions

Departure from Dilijan to Ijevan. The main destination point is the “Ijevan wine-cognac factory”. During the visit we will have a tour in the territory of the plant. An experienced tour guide will get us familiar with the peculiarities of wine making traditions in the Tavush region, famous for its moderate microclimate. The guide will present the story of the factory and tell about the whole wine making process and the sorts of production step by step. We will walk in the territory of winery, wine vaults, cellars with collection wines, as well as cells, where the cognac ageing takes place. After the tours in the production plants wine and cognac degustation will be organized, where six sorts of wine – white dry, red dry, red semisweet, fruit semisweet and grape sweet- will be presented to our attention, as well as two sorts of old collection wines, with a special a twenty-year-old cognac. A lunch in the Haghpat village – in the “Kefilian guest house”. A visit to one of the important medieval religious-educational centers in Armenia – the Monastery of “Haghpat”. The complex is included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list. Another visit to the Odzun monastery dating back to the IV century. Returning to Yerevan.

Day 6

Wine tour in Yerevan and its surroundings

Breakfast in the hotel. We will visit the “Zvartnots” «Tampel of Celestial Angels», which is not only considered a masterpiece of medieval Armenian architecture, but is also included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list. Then we will visit the “St.Echmiadzin” museum-treasury where numerous sacred relics referring to the history of Armenian Apostolic Church. Lunch in the “Art and Tourism Centre Machetanc” in the town of “Echmiadzin”. Here we will taste traditional Armenian dishes. Then we will continue our way to the one of the biggest wine factories-“Armenia Wine”. Here, after a tour in the plant, we will taste several sorts from the best wines of the producer in a specially equipped degustation hall. Almost every village here has its winery and every one of them has its distinguishing characteristics. Return to Yerevan, where a short rest will be followed by leaving for supper and wine tasting in one of the most stylish wine restaurants in Yerevan - Baleni Wine & Dinner

Day 7

Before you leave - Armenia

You will have an opportunity to shop for Armenian delicacies and souvenirs. With this aim we will go the famous open-air market Vernisagh to search for souvenirs, which will be followed by a visit of the GUM Market for dried fruits and sweets. A lunch in an exquisite restaurant «Voskevaz». After the lunch we will go to the wine plant «Voskevaz» in the village with the same name, where a wine degustation will follow. This producer has emerged in the Wine card of Armenia quite recently but has already managed to become one of the most popular thanks to its unique wines. We will have a change to tour around the beautiful marans (vaults) of Voskevaz, and then we will taste some sorts of wines together with meat and cheese assortment plates and under the guidance of the local sommelier. This will become our beautiful closure of the wine tour in Armenia. Based on the time of your departure flight we will go either directly to the airport or back to the city.
